Funding leukemia through the kindness of others. Mountains for Blake is a resource and  fund raising site for adults receiving a new leukemia diagnosis.

We sat on a rock breathless, just over halfway up the side of Little Haystack Mountain trying to regain strength to continue a hike that was well above our skill level. A woman passed by us, she took a few steps and stopped and turned. “Take it one step at a time, one small step at a time and you will climb the mountain.”

This is just like getting a leukemia diagnosis, you have no choice but to take one step at a time as you climb the mountain called leukemia.

After getting Blake’s diagnosis we realized there is no other option but to approach this as we would a mountain hike. Celebrate each small victory and keep yourself centered on this moment and this moment only.

That woman and her words of wisdom are something we will never forget, and as we learn to live with leukemia, we decided that all that we learn and the help that we receive should be shared by others on this same path.

With this in mind Mountains For Blake will strive to become a safe haven for adults dealing with a leukemia diagnosis. A place where, when we can help…we will. If it’s a resource list, a place to go for inspiration to get through the harder times or, for funds when we have them available. Mountains For Blake hopes to become a place where adults with leukemia can find refugee….a quiet moment in the midst of chaos.
